AWARD-WINNING DIRECTOR

AMINA ROBINSON

AMINA ROBINSON (Director) is an actor, director, and Professor of Acting and Musical Theater at Temple University. Amina has performed on Broadway, National Tours, film, television, national commercials, and various regional productions. Amina's directing credits include productions at Arden Theatre Company, Pennsylvania Shakespeare Festival, Theatre Horizon, Azuka Theatre, IAMA Theatre Company in Los Angeles, Queens Theater in New York, Passage Theatre Company in New Jersey, The Lantern Theater, and Temple University. Amina is the first Black woman to win a Barrymore Award for Outstanding Direction of a Musical for The Color Purple at Theater Horizon and is currently nominated for Outstanding Direction Barrymore Awards for both a play (Fat Ham at The Wilma) and a musical (Once on this Island at The Arden).

This workshop, led by the acclaimed and award-winning director, Professor Amina Robinson, offers an invaluable opportunity for aspiring and seasoned directors to hone their craft, expand their artistic vision, and develop the tools necessary to bring compelling stories to life on stage.

 

Throughout this dynamic workshop, participants will explore the core principles of direction, from script analysis and conceptualization to casting, blocking, and actor coaching. Professor Robinson will provide in-depth guidance on how to shape a production's emotional and visual storytelling, ensuring that every directorial choice enhances the audience’s experience.

  • Live demonstration with actors followed by participant interaction.
